When Balinder rang me up after a recommendation by my friends at Studio North to discuss photographing her Sikh wedding I never realised this would be the start of an awesome friendship and one of the most stunning weddings I’ve ever photographed.
She was my ideal client- she appreciated artistic & stylish couples shots but saw the value of uninterrupted documentary asian wedding photography.
I got to spend the week getting to know the Sangha family & by the end felt like an extended family member- I still see Balinder and Jas’ parents smiling at me at weddings and always stop to catch up, such a wonderful feeling!
By the time the wedding day came round I was soo excited- at the night before party the american cousin’s got me to join in the dance at the end!! Balinder looked stunning in her bridal makeup and AMAZING exclusive lengha by Ekta Solanki.
As we arrived at the Sunderland Gurdwara I felt the buzz in the air amplify- even all the bridesmaid agreed to jump in those Jimmy Choos!!!
After an emotional ceremony I finally got a chance to get some shots of this awesome couple together- simply put they looked like a couple out of a bollywood magazine- stunning!!
We then proceeded to the marquee reception at Hardwick Hall- it was lit up wonderfully with mood lighting by Leeds based Delsonic, I’ve been recommending them to couples ever since this day!!
The evening entertainment was left into the capable hands of London based Kudos DJ’s who have a reputation for ROCKING asian wedding receptions- they set up a desi dance off which I hadn’t seen before, quite possibly the highlight of the night!!
Just when I felt things couldn’t get any better we then had international punjabi popstar Garry Sandhu do a suprise performance to end the night!
Then from one extreme we went to the opposite to a very emotional Doli where Balinder bid farewell to her family.
To summarise- this was one amazing wedding, there was singing, dancing, love, tears, energy and lots of colour! A joy to photograph!
Below are the updated set of images from their amazing day.
